The Needs & Wants Challenge

Students will actively distinguish between basic needs and non-essential wants, recognizing that resources like money and time are limited for everyone. The lesson explains that because of this universal scarcity, people and societies are constantly forced to make choices about how to allocate their limited resources. By analyzing real-world scenarios, students will learn why every economic decision involves trade-offs and understand that making responsible choices is essential to budgeting and financial planning. The lesson aligns with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standard 4.6(B).
